New York is always at the forefront of anything new in the culture—fashion, food, music, art. And the same can be said when it comes to the traditionally staid real estate industry. New York’s cutthroat, high-octane real estate market breeds innovation and creativity that the rest of the country will eventually follow. Check out what we think are five of the most innovative firms in NYC changing the game:

Core

Going from a boutique firm to a trend-setter is no easy feat. With an incredible website and a focus on digital marketing, Core has become the go-to firm for hip NYC elites.

Core video content

What’s really incredible is their super-high quality video content. CORE has a huge array of videos:

  • Documentary video
  • Artistic-style videos on their suave agents
  • incredibly done listing tours videos
  • new development videos

They even do a cool series called “Core Talks” with leading architects, artists, lifestyle gurus and fashion designers in New York City, giving them the feeling that they don’t just care about buying and selling, but rather the finer art of living in the world’s best city.

Douglas Elliman

A name everyone in NYC knows, Douglas Elliman has endured over a century of NYC real estate competition for a reason; its commitment to staying ahead of the game.

They recently released a new smartphone app called “Elli” that is chock full of features that take it far beyond most real estate apps. It starts with an intelligent search engine that learns your preferences as you use it.

It also allows you to connect with brokers for a live chat without leaving the app. And perhaps coolest of all is an augmented reality feature called “Elli-Vision” which basically lets you hold your phone’s camera up to any building in the city and it recognizes if there are apartments available for sale in that building!

Halstead Property

Halstead has consistently shown the ability to adapt to the times, which is why they invest so heavily in technology.

They recently released an app that monitors what you are searching for and gives you personalized recommendations from a real realtor. It was recently awarded the Most Innovative Brokerage prize at the International Real Estate Conference in Las Vegas.

In addition, they have begun to explore the medium of 3D tours videos, that is of a far higher quality than those choppy grainy 3D tours that are common place in less innovative firms. They also use the latest drones to shoot video of both interiors and exteriors.

Compass

Like Core, Compass is also all about a slick and sophisticated modern aesthetic, from their website to their agents to their incredibly well curated Instagram account.

They also have a launched their own beautiful app, which is replete with features like the ability to immediately be connected with a realtor or schedule a showing. Their neighborhood guides, which use Google Maps to show the boundaries of the neighborhood you’re exploring, is simple and useful.

Corcoran

Corcoran has been able to maintain its position as one of the big players through a focus on digital marketing and seamless online experience.

Corcoran video content

In terms of video content, they have a robust YouTube channel with tons of great web video series. One is called “Stories & Spaces” which takes you inside some of New York’s most interesting and famous apartments, giving you the scoop on their history, the neighborhood, and famous occupants who may have lived there. as well as the history of the neighborhood and the famous occupants.

Their ongoing ad campaign is called “Live Who You Are” and also features New York celebrities with unique homes and styles. Another series is called “The Scoop” and gives stories, insight and recommendations from their own talented agents and executives.

These New York firms are really changing the game and upping the ante when it comes to the real estate marketing. Amazing, lush and engaging video content is now a must and a key ingredient for any ambitious firm, and it will be exciting to see how these companies innovate next.
